First, why I am here?
Answer: I’m a stay at home mom to two little girls, Corrine and Joelle. They both keep me busy yet nap time means mommy productive time. I want to keep my head in the nutrition field. As a dietitian/nutritionist, I have a passion for all things health and wellness that started with a weight loss journey.
After losing my weight, I went back to school to be dietitian and to spend the rest of my career in the wellness field. This blog is my avenue to keep my knowledge base current and allows me to share my insights. I’m SO excited to finally be here!
Second, what can you expect to read here?
Short Answer: I write content focused on all things food, fitness and family!
Long Answer: Let’s start off with food. Food is ubiquitous. It’s everywhere. We all have to eat/drink to live. But……. talk about INFORMATION OVERLOAD not to mention contradicting information as well! What’s healthy, what’s not? What should I feed my children? Should I nix carbs to lose weight? Or what’s the best way to fuel for my upcoming race? The list of questions goes on forever. I read plenty of good information on the web about nutrition yet I read twice as much bad and flat out wrong information. Therefore, it’s my goal to provide you with info that is reliable, backed up with science and easy to understand. I write about nutrition topics that make an impact in our lives and dis-spell myths regarding the food we put into our bodies.
Fitness goes hand in hand with nutrition. Find a movement you love and exercise won’t feel like a chore. When you love your exercise, what ever it is, you’ll stick to it. I have two distinct fitness loves. First, I am a apart of the Les Mills global TR1BE. I fell in love with teaching group fitness ages ago and continue to teach classes almost everyday of the week. My life would not be the same without teaching these classes. I thrive on the endorphins I get from impacting so many peoples’ lives, daily. My second fitness love: is endurance running. I lost my weight through experiencing the runner’s high and then I caught the racing bug. I’m an experienced marathon runner, with three Boston Marathon finishes to my name and aspirations to become an Ironman triathlete, someday. In the fitness section, expect to read about fitness motivations, insights into how to start a fitness program and what fitness trends are on the horizons.
Family is the root of my world and probably yours too. And that’s the way it should be. I strive for my personal wellness for them. So I will be around to live life with them! Isn’t that what life is about? So in this section, you can expect to read about what’s going on with my family. Most likely, you’ll be able to relate with my family’s successes and struggles and laugh at our funny stories.
Finally, my life isn’t divided into these neat little sections. So things will meld together and you’ll read a mix of everything in each blog post.
