It’s been 11 months (more than that now since it’s past the 2nd) since Joelle was born. This is my last monthly post until she turns one year old.
Wait…….Let me let that sink in.
Dang. She’s not a baby anymore. Which is good because I can’t wait to see what she grows to be. But it’s also kinda sad because she’s my baby. My cuddly little Jo Jo. My little peanut. My little squirt. A part of my heart will always miss the first year and that goes for the first year of both my girls’ lives. I am very excited to see what’s in store for this little one.
Anywho, enough mushy sh*t. What’s been going on in this little 11 month old life? She’s a cruising everywhere. She’ll pull up on anything, get her balance and then stand wobbly for a good solid 5-10 seconds before she plops back down on her butt. I’m sure she’ll be walking really soon although I said that last month. I can’t really say that I’m looking forward to her walking around everywhere. Because after walking, comes running. Then I’ll have 2 bipedal creatures running around causing a ruckus.
Yet again, I’ve started writing this post without a recent weight on her and she’s sleeping now. So who knows how much weight she’s gained since last month (18lbs post nap 🙂 ). But it can’t be too much. She’ll still barely fitting into 12 month clothes and she’s actually swimming in her 9 month swimsuit. Speaking of which, she had her first dip in the pool at the YMCA early in the month and then again over the Memorial Day weekend. She LOVED the water.
I wish I had a few pictures from our family trip to the neighborhood pool over Memorial Day, but two adult hands were needed to keep both girls safe in the water. We’ve got all summer to head to the pool which is 1/2 a mile from our house.
As compared to her big sister, Joelle is much more vocal, mobile, and for lack of a better word, crazy! She’ll throw her body over large toys to get around them, she’ll launch herself over your legs, or she’ll grab a handful of whatever she can to pull herself to standing. I’ve been pinched, bit, lost some hair, and have been poked in the eye all in one day.
Speaking of being bitten, she’s working on 3 new teeth right now. Her middle top two are just starting to emerge and her left 2nd tooth is mainly in. Including these three, she has 6 teeth. And they are sharp little buggers.
She’s recently had a stint of picky eating partly because she had a bad experience with a hot dog 🙁 . One Friday night, she tried a few bites of her sister’s hot dog and it was really only a few bites. By the end of the night, she had emptied almost all of her stomach contents on Dave, the carpet and the bathroom floor. Ugh. A vomiting baby isn’t fun at all! Ever since that night, we’ve been feeding her safe and familiar foods to keep her stomach settled.
We had the whole family in on the 11 month photo shoot as daddy was home early on Friday. I got a few cute ones, but for the most part, the pictures were duds. It’s hard to keep an active 11 month old to stay in the same place in front of a damn stuffed dog to get a decent picture on top of not ripping apart the 11 month sticker!
Here’s some more of my silly girls
I’ll be back in a month when my baby is 1 year old!!!!
