Joelle turned 8 months on the 2nd of March. She’s 16 lbs and not quite sure how many inches she’s grown as we haven’t been to the doc since her 6 month appointment.
What’s new with this little girl?
She’s a raspberry blowin’ machine still! This kid loves to feel the vibration on her gums. She cut her first two teeth on Feb 17th. She was a real pill the few nights leading up to it. I’d like to say she’s calmed down, but that’s just not true. She’s still having trouble sleeping through the night. It’s like she knows the exact when my head hits the pillow. It never fails, she’ll start crying as soon as we’re ready to go to bed.
She’s really finding her voice as she’s babbling a lot. Sometimes it reminds me of a chicken pecking the ground. Other times it reminds me of an old man trying to mumble without his dentures in. Ha! I wish I had a video for you to see what I’m talking about. I’m sure she’ll do it again soon and I’ll try to capture it. Mommy thinks its pretty funny.
Joelle is on the edge of crawling. She doesn’t quite have the strength to lift her butt up all the way, so she bear crawls. She’ll bear crawl to anything interesting on the ground but she’s particularly fascinated with anything paper: Corrine’s coloring books, scraps of paper left from discarded stickers. Ya know, anything she can chew and choke on. Great. Dave and I are both paranoid about choking hazards so I’m constantly on the look out for anything small she could potentially choke on. Now, the big toys that she can’t choke on are EVERYWHERE in this house. I’m trying (not always succeeding) to live with the clutter. I keep telling myself that all too soon, when my girls are all grown up, my house will be spotless and empty.
Let’s compare to big sis. I’ve said it before, Corrine was a big baby! So she was much larger than Joelle at this age. Corrine was well into 12 month clothes while Joelle is just now transitioning into 9 month clothes.
Look at my big girl now. I snapped this shot tonight while taking Joelle’s 8 month pictures.
What else? It’s been a pretty quiet month around here. Dave and I both had birthdays this month, so we’re another year older (pretty sure I’m spotting gray hairs regularly now, ugh). And with that thought, I’m going to finish this post and pour me a glass of wine. It’s Friday night so might as well.
Have a great weekend!
